Philippine Gamefowl

Philippine Gamefowl are concerning to bankivoide fighter variation, which has its origin in Spanish Fighters. Those probably were already imported at conqueror times of Spanish King Philipp (1565). By the way, he designated this giant group of islands after his first name! Since this time they were crossed with native Bankiva chickens and produced a real island population. Since 1950 these chickens have crossing influence by new imported American Gamefowl. Many Philippinos are hesitating themselves to in-cross them and however continue to breed them up purely, yet! The purest representative exemplars one can find under the poor population, who cannot afford the expensive US import roosters. At cock fights the same Slasher is used as after American rules in the cockpit buildings. However sometimes it is attached at the left, or also at the right foot. Philippine cock fights at country sides are often organized in the proximity of a Christian house: In this house a dead person is presented for donation purposes in a glass coffin. In approx. 2 weeks they are eventing so many cock fights, until from the incomes (betting) the funeral can be financed!

From time to time one can watch a Philippine rooster fighting against an American one in big urban cockpits.

Weight approx. 1,3 to 2kg, small light creme eggs
